Pap-illon is committed to making papillon-symi.com accessible to as many visitors as possible, including people with disabilities.
1. Target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA for the public website (excluding the admin panel).
2. Measures in place
- Semantic HTML, skip link and correct
lang/xml:langper locale. - Descriptive image
alttext (auto-generated from content or manual overrides) — no redundant announcement on gallery buttons or decorative hero logo. - Full keyboard access for navigation, modals and gallery.
- Visible focus indicators; ARIA on dialogs; contact form errors linked to fields.
- Background isolation (
inert/aria-hidden) when drawer, modals or cookie banner open — dialogs teleported tobody. - Focus returns to the control that opened a modal (menu, footer, gallery lightbox).
- Language picker with full menu keyboard pattern (arrows, focus trap).
- Carousels:
aria-hiddenon offscreen slides,aria-currenton active slide, stable slide IDs and tabaria-controls(menu, Google reviews). - Legal definition lists (
<dl>) and cookie policy tables with<caption>and column headers. titleattributes on Google Maps and TripAdvisor embeds after cookie consent.- Consistent accessible names for links with the same destination (e.g. menu, accessibility page).
- Scroll-to-top and mobile bar removed from tab order when hidden.
prefers-reduced-motionsupport.robots.txt,llms.txtand structured data for search and AI crawlers.
3. Known limitations
- Google Maps and TripAdvisor load only after cookie consent (third-party embeds).
- Some decorative assets (CSS logo, flourishes) are intentionally non-textual.
- Our Symi location may have physical access constraints (harbour steps).
4. Feedback
